Last night, the House of Representatives passed legislation to empower girls worldwide against child marriage and permanently establish an Office of Global Women's Issues.
Earlier this week, we asked you to contact your representative to voice your support for these provisions. Thanks to your action- and the actions of many- the United States took a crucial step towards ensuring that U.S. policy decisions effectively meet the needs of women and girls. We will continue to work to ensure that these provisions are included in Senate legislation and eventually signed into law.    

While certain members of Congress worked to derail the permanent establishment of the Office of Global Women's Issues, Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Howard Berman consistently stood strong for women and girls worldwide.
