Instituto de Género, Derecho, y Desarrollo-INSGENAR
(Gender, Law, and Development Institute)
Founded in 1995, INSGENAR defends and promotes women’s and girl’s human rights. INSENGAR focuses on improving the care and treatment of women at public health facilities by reporting and systematically investigating the abuse of women at public health facilities such as physical violence, privacy violations, and being made the subject of medical research without consent.
In collaboration with another IWHC partner, CLADEM-Argentina, INSGENAR produced an extensive report on abuse at public health facilities along with recommendations on how provincial governments can protect women. The report recommended that national university medical school curriculum incorporate human rights principles. Currently, IWHC is supporting a pioneering project led by INSGENAR and CLADEM-Argentina to establish a mechanism that will monitor, according to human rights standards, the treatment women receive when seeking sexual and reproductive health services.
IWHC has supported INSGENAR since 2002. For more information, visit INSGENAR's website.
