IPS: Building the Role of Youth in Public Service and Politics

IPS publication on adolecents' sexual and reproductive rights
Founded in 2006, with financial support from IWHC, the Social Policies Institute (Instituto de Políticas Sociales or IPS) promotes the participation of young people in public service and politics with a particular focus on monitoring how policies and legislation affect sexual and reproductive health and rights. IPS’s programs educate young people, youth-serving organizations, and health professionals on sexual and reproductive rights and health. IPS informs young people about existing government services designed to protect their health and rights.
IPS is piloting a project in San Juan de Lurigancho, a poor, densely populated district in Lima. This project will establish relationships with community leaders and building the knowledge base of youth and local leaders on sexual and reproductive rights and health. With IWHC support, IPS is working with young people to monitor social and health policies and create community forums to discuss new health policies.
