Host an IWHC House Party!

By gathering friends, family and colleagues together in the name of women’s health, you’ll help spread the word about IWHC’s efforts and help us save lives of women and girls around the globe.  With our party kit, we invite you and your guests to share knowledge about women around the world.

Send us a note if you're thinking about having a party and want some help. We have additional hosting tips and information about IWHC that we can provide. We’re thrilled that you’re part of IWHC’s extended family and can’t wait to hear about your party!

Suggested activities: We’ve provided some tips and activities below to help you get your party moving and get your guests talking about the health and rights of women and girls.

Quiz and Global Women’s Health Facts

Distribute copies of the quiz, available to download as a PDF with answer key here, and keep the copy with answers for yourself. Give everyone a few minutes to fill in their answers. Then go through the answers and be sure to provide the in-depth information about each. At the conclusion of the event, email your guests the online version of the quiz with answers and links to more in-depth resources.

Stories of My Body Reading & Discussion

Select one of the below stories that is compelling to you and ask volunteers from the group to read it out loud:

Questions for discussion of the stories:

  • What did you hear during this story that you were surprised to learn?
  • What struck you the most about XXX’s story?
  • What do you think governments and donors can do to support women like XXX?
  • What do you think you can do to support women like XXX?

Show and Tell

  • Ask your guests to bring a photo or small trinket that reminds them or is symbolic of a woman who inspires them.
  • As an ice breaker, ask everyone to introduce themselves and say something about the object they brought, who it reminds them of, and why that woman inspires them.

Advance Reading

Send your guests the following article by IWHC President Adrienne Germain: “Three Priority Actions on HIV/AIDS for Women and Girls.” The piece can be read online here and is also available as a PDF here. Use the piece as a jumping off point for your conversation.
