Enlace Continental de Mujeres Indígenas de las Américas–Región Sudamérica Print E-mail

(Continental Network of Indigenous Women of the Americas South America)

Created in 1993, Enlace is a network of indigenous women from 26 organizations and 19 countries. The network unites activists across the region and highlights indigenous women’s concerns at national and international levels. In 2006, Enlace organized a workshop on sexual health for 13 female indigenous leaders from seven South American countries. The workshop participants created a guide to the state of indigenous women’s sexual and reproductive health in the region.

In April 2008, the First International Indigenous Women’s Forum was, held in Lima, Peru, convening over 150 indigenous women from 15 Latin American countries and 4 countries from other regions. With IWHC’s support, Enlace organized panels expanding participants’ information on sexual and reproductive health, including HIV prevention and encouraged a dialogue between the indigenous rights and the feminist movement, centered around indigenous women’s sexual and reproductive health.
