The International Women's Health Coalition's impact is local and global. We leverage our work in two very different but critically linked worlds - international policy and local capacity - to change thinking, redirect funding and motivate action by people and institutions that can secure rights and health for women. We have worked in alliance with advocates and policymakers to influence the outcome of many major UN deliberations:
- International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) An unprecedented commitment by 179 governments in Cairo in
1994 places women's rights and access to reproductive health at the center of
population policy. The ICPD has just five years to fulfill the vision of

- United
Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) Each year governments gather to advance policies to improve
the lives of girls and women worldwide. Read more about the CSW here >>
- United
Nations Fourth World Conference on Women A
turning point in the world's understanding of women's human rights, the Beijing
Conference in 1995 reaffirmed and extended global agreements on women's sexual

- Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) In September 2000, leaders of over 180 governments convened for the
United Nations Millennium Summit, and together they adopted a broad and
progressive Millennium Declaration, which identifies priorities for the
new millennium as outlined in eight Millennium Development Goals which have a deadline of 2015. Read more about the MDGs here >>
