POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Program Officer (SPO) leads IWHC's With Women Worldwide initiative that aims to reshape HIV and AIDS programs, policies and budgets to give women and girls power against the disease through protection of their Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health (SRRH). This ongoing initiative includes an international working group of seven key constituencies that the SPO facilitates; high level relationships, negotiations and technical support to the UN system and other international agencies, and contact with national AIDS control programs. S/he collaborates with many colleagues and stakeholders in a range of fields; represents IWHC in various fora; maintains substantive knowledge of issues, policies and networks; writes and presents on related topics; collaborates with regional program officers on their policy strategies at the national and regional levels; and contributes expertise, perspective and input to IWHC's overall program, strategy, and organizational development.

PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION

Work closely with the Executive Assistant to the President, and as back-up for her in her absence.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Produce the President's drafts and final documents for programmatic and institutional work, and disseminate them.

With the Executive Assistant to the President, monitor the President's email and draft and send responses when appropriate.

Provide administrative support to the President, in close consultation with the Executive Assistant to the President, including general office duties (photocopying, faxing, filing, etc.).

Create and maintain files and records management systems for rapid identification, retrieval and dissemination of documents produced for the President. Maintain and update the President's contacts in IWHC's institutional contacts database.

Produce the President's fundraising drafts, and liaise with the Development Officer, Institutional Grants, in producing and disseminating final documents when necessary.

Assist Institutional Grants staff in preparing background materials for staff meetings with institutional donors.

Assist Institutional Grants staff with research to identify new foundation, government, and multilateral donors as needed.

Provide relief to the switchboard receptionist and back-up for the Executive Assistant to the President as assigned.

Contribute as an active member of the Administrative Team and IWHC.

Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Passion for IWHC's mission required.

B.A. required and at least three years of continuous work experience supporting a senior level executive.

Candidate should have advanced word processing and administrative skills, including typing, filing, proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and internet research.

Candidate should be self-motivated, work well independently, and be a self starter. Candidate should be highly organized, with high standards of quality and productivity, close attention to detail, and the ability to work cooperatively, effectively, and accurately under pressure.

The International Women's Health Coalition (IWHC), a nonprofit organization, promotes and protects the health and rights of women and girls worldwide. We provide technical and financial support to nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in selected countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, helping them to serve their communities and to advocate for sexual and reproductive rights and health within and across borders. We inform and mobilize international coalitions to participate in global health policy debates, and provide substantive advice to international agencies. Our multifaceted communications program includes outreach to influential audiences through speeches, events, presentations, in-house and external publishing, diverse media engagement, a strong website and online presence, and promotion of the Coalition's work and its issues.
PRIMARY PURPOSE & FUNCTION
The intern will provide administrative and technical support to the Individual & Corporate Giving department to enhance overall effectiveness and efficiency.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide overall support on events, including preparations for the 2008 gala.

Assist with general mailings to donors.

Perform clerical and administrative tasks.

Maintain accurate and organized electronic and paper filing systems.
