CCR: Bridging Academics and Activism Print

Commission on Citizenship and Reproduction (Comissão Cidadania e Reprodução– CCR) is a think-tank and a grantmaking organization that fosters Brazil’s reproductive rights and health movement through strategic planning and investments. Lead by a body of experts, CCR provides bridges the academic and the activist spheres to foster a more powerful movement for sexual and reproductive rights and health.

With IWHC’s support, CCR was founded in 1991 and leveraged the commitment of high-profile members to guide and strengthen the Brazilian reproductive rights movement support of women’s rights to choose when and if they have children. In 2003, CCR launched the Program of Support for Projects on Health, Sexual Rights, and Reproductive Rights (Prosare) to provide non-governmental organizations and teaching and research institutions with financial support for work in sexual and reproductive rights and health. Annually, Prosare accepts applications on a particular theme. Recently, Prosare has supported projects on religion and sexual and reproductive rights in the private and public spheres and the evaluation of public policies on sexual and reproductive rights and health.
