Calabar International Institute for Research, Information and Documentation (CIINSTRID) Print

Calabar International Institute for Research, Information and Documentation (CIINSTRID) is an organization committed to achieving social justice in Nigeria by  defending and promoting the interests and aspirations of the oppressed and exploited segments of society with a focus on developing critical and anti-sexist consciousness in male adolescents. CIINSTRID is one of the few organizations worldwide, and the only one in Nigeria, that works exclusively with male adolescents to address their sexual and reproductive rights and health from a gender equality and rights-based perspective.

Through its Conscientizing Male Adolescents (CMA) Program, CIINSTRID seeks to promote critical consciousness and anti-sexist attitudes among teenage boys. The program's comprehensive curriculum helps boys to examine sources of oppression in their own lives, apply their analysis to society at large, and identify ways that they can change their own behavior. Through weekly discussion sessions, a library and documentation center, school and community outreach programs, and a quarterly newsletter, CIINSTRID is building a new generation of Nigerian men who practice and promote gender equality as a way of life. IWHC supported CIINSTRID Conscientizing Male Adolescents Program from its creation in 1995 until 2010.
