Letter to the Editor
To the Editor: The infection rate in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, has passed the epidemic level. In Lagos, Action Health Incorporated, of which I am director, is providing sexuality education that increases girls' self-confidence and teaches them how to protect themselves from dangerous situations. We work with boys to end violence and discrimination. We also provide health services. Nigeria's Ministry of Education has a national sexuality education curriculum. Many more countries must consider this approach. Inaction is tantamount to a death sentence for our youth.
