Summary: Report published by the UN Division for the Advancement of Women after an Expert Group meeting convened in preparation for 49th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (held in New York in February-March 2005). The report supports the recommendations contained in the UN's Millennium Taskforce Reports on Gender Equality and Maternal Health, and endorses the seven strategic objectives set out in the Gender Equality Taskforce report, including the guarantee of sexual and reproductive health and rights. It also examines the importance of applying a human rights framework to the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, the Millennium Declaration, and the MDGs, and highlights the importance of reducing poverty, making resources work for women, and ensuring the participation of women¹s organizations (37 pages).
