|
Summary: During the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children (May 8-10, 2002), IWHC organized and co-sponsored Adolescents at the Crossroads, a panel presentation on adolescent sexuality education, in cooperation with Aahung (Pakistan), Action Health Incorporated (Nigeria), the Youth Coalition, the United Nations Population Fund, the World Health Organization, and the World Bank. The panel featured speakers from four nongovernmental organizations that offer innovative programs and services for adolescents in Nigeria, Pakistan, Mongolia, and Mexico. Adolescents at the Crossroads provided a crucial platform for the discussion of adolescent concerns worldwide, and its presence was especially important at a conference dominated by U.S. pressure to limit women's and girls' reproductive and other human rights.
