On January 15, 2004, the International Women's Health Coalition held its Third Annual Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, celebrating 20 years of work defending and advancing girls' and women's health and rights worldwide. We honored United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan for his recognition that women's health and rights are central to solving global challenges. Click here to read the Secretary General's keynote speech. Our special guests were colleagues Dorothy Aken'Ova of the International Center for Reproductive Health and Sexual Rights (INCRESE, Nigeria) and Shazia Mohamed of Aahung (Pakistan), who spoke about their work. Actress Glenn Close and CBS news correspondent Lesley Stahl led a toast for IWHC's 20th anniversary. For information about our next gala, please contact Laura Miller at lmiller@iwhc.org. |
